All stars in hotels and motels in Kosovo will be certified by an evaluation committee consisting of members from the Ministry of Trade and Industry , Tourism Associations and experts . Certification will be done within 6 months , and it is not voluntary , and those who do not want to be certified , after 6 months would not be able to declare their stars hotel facilities .Acting Minister of Trade and Industry , Bernard Nikaj , said classification shall be according to the types and manner of service delivery and categorization with star hotel in Kosovo is voluntary .
Nikaj has shown that the cost of project classification and grading of hotels and motels will be the burden of the ministry . " We are aiming to provide a high quality tourist local or international if s who visit our country . This is a step that will increase the quality of services offered in the tourism sector , "said Acting Minister of Trade .
" They can continue operating but after 6 month period will not be able to advertise on the stars . So is his right to have a hotel that is unclassified , but the hotel he will not be able to say that I have 5 stars, if such a thing is not verified and certified by the Commission , "said Nikaj .
He stressed that the Commission did not want the evaluation and certification consists only of MTI officials . " The evaluation committee are members of the MTI combination of tourism associations operating in Kosovo and by independent experts ," he said .
But Zeke Ceku , tourism expert said the process of categorization is important , that has several advantages ." By this process benefits all stakeholders and primarily consumers, who before they decide to use their service can know the brand and the level of standards and that this level of standard defines the process of classification and categorization . Also benefit from this process will be the tour operators who promote and sell the product in the market through the hotel category , "said Ceku .
